MRI Tech Job Description

A Travel MRI Technologist will be responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines in their host hospital or healthcare facility. MRI Techs are also responsible for guiding patients through the imaging process, explaining the procedures, and answering any questions they might have. An MRI technologist, or MRI Tech, will also help with inspecting and troubleshooting equipment.

A successful MRI technologist should be knowledgeable about human anatomy and safety protocols for an MRI machine. The best MRI techs have a high capacity for analyzing and communicating complicated information to patients in a concise and clear way.

MRI Tech Job Requirements

  • Preferably an associate or bachelor’s degree in radiology.
  • Radiographers need a license to practice.
  • They must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) and have current BLS or CPR/AED certification for healthcare providers.
  • Ability to be exposed to a magnetic field constantly.
  • Above-average or excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to empathize with others.
  • Excellent technical and mathematical talents.
  • Excellent time management, planning, and analytical skills, as well as an eye for the smallest of details.
  • An MRI Technologist may also be required to assist patients, which requires physical strength.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (MRI Techs) are an integral part of the healthcare process, supporting physicians and any other health professional by operating and maintaining imaging machinery, so doctors can concentrate on treating patients and delivering the best healthcare.

What does MRI Tech job scientiest do ?

As an MRI tech, you can work with a team that provides a wide array of procedures related to screening and diagnosis. Besides operating and maintaining a magnetic resonance imaging machine, the MRI Tech deals with patients daily and thus has to be compassionate and understanding with patients.

MRI techs are responsible for:

  • Preparing patients for the procedure.
  • Going through the history of a patient.
  • Completing the screenings for pacemakers and injures where metal objects might be involved.
  • Administrating contrast dyes to patients.
  • Communicating all procedure steps to patients and also addressing any of the patient’s concerns and questions.
