MRI Tech Job Description

A Travel MRI Technologist will be responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines in their host hospital or healthcare facility. MRI Techs are also responsible for guiding patients through the imaging process, explaining the procedures, and answering any questions they might have. An MRI technologist, or MRI Tech, will also help with inspecting and troubleshooting equipment.

MRI Tech Job Requirements

  • Preferably an associate or bachelor’s degree in radiology.
  • Radiographers need a license to practice.
  • They must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) and have current BLS or CPR/AED certification for healthcare providers.
  • Ability to be exposed to a magnetic field constantly.
  • Above-average or excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to empathize with others.
  • Excellent technical and mathematical talents.
  • Excellent time management, planning, and analytical skills, as well as an eye for the smallest of details.
  • An MRI Technologist may also be required to assist patients, which requires physical strength.

MRI techs are responsible for:

  • Preparing patients for the procedure.
  • Going through the history of a patient.
