Oklahoma City was recently named ‘One of the Best Places to Visit’ by Travel + Leisure in 2020. Like most metropolitans, this cowboy city has a ton of culture, attractions and great food. With a revitalized downtown, a lot of history, and an expansive art scene, you surely won’t be bored anytime soon. If you’re a travel nurse that’s found themselves in OKC, we have a great list of attractions for you. 

Bricktown 

Dubbed ‘Oklahoma City’s favorite neighborhood’, Bricktown is an industrial-chic, entertainment center with tons to do including shopping, dining, and live music. 

If you’re looking for great food, check out Yucatan Taco Stand or Pink Parrot. Are you a big country music fan? Toby Keith has a bar right in Bricktown! For nightlife, check out the Cowboy Ranch. This bar is over 27,000 square feet complete with a mechanical bull, a dancefloor, a pool table, and more! If you’re in the mood for some live music, check out Michael Murphy’s Dueling Piano Bar. If you’re looking for a girls night out, check out Doll House Lounge and Burlesque.

Museums 

One thing Oklahoma City has a lot of is museums. For those long winter months or aimless afternoons, there is no shortage of art and history to see in this city. 

National Memorial Museum 

The 1995 Oklahoma City bombing rocked the nation. This museum is a memorial to all the people that lost their lives. This museum is filled with video archives, memorabilia, and facts on facts of the events from that terrifying day. If you’re looking for an accurate, intimate recount of what happened, this is the place to find it. 

Factory Obscura 

If you’re in an artistic mood and want to get out and do something interactive, check out Factory Obscura. This art museum contains immersive experiences where visitors can be fully a part of the exhibits. The creators’ goals of this museum are to support, create and awaken the world. The immersions are physically challenging and meant to open your mind. Are you up for it? 

Sports

If you’re a sports fanatic, you’re in the right place! Oklahoma City has a lot to offer all of the sports fans out there. For basketball enthusiasts, you can’t miss seeing the OKC Thunder at Paycom Center. For baseball fans, there are the Oklahoma City Dodgers, an affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

While Oklahoma might seem like a sleepy place with only vast plains and not much going on, don’t be fooled! This city comes packed full of fun things to do.
