Tell us about your career history – how did you become a travel nurse?
I’ve been a nurse since 2019. I worked in the suburbs of Chicago on a med surg unit until May 2021 when I decide to do travel nursing! I chose travel nursing because I really wanted to get out to the west coast to get into more of the outdoorsy things it has to offer. I also thought it would be great experience for me! Travel nursing has given me a lot of confidence in myself as a nurse.
Have you found any sort of community while travel nursing?
I’ve made some great friends on this assignment! Honestly, everyone at this hospital has been amazing.
What are some of your favorite hobbies and activities outside of work?
Anything that gets me outside! Hiking, camping, backpacking, kayaking, and skiing. One new hobby I’m starting to learn is rock climbing!
What do you always pack?
My outdoor gear
Any advice for future travelers?
Make friends! Ask some of the people you work with if they want to grab lunch sometime! Makes the assignment so much better!
