What is your current specialty and placement?

Mother/baby – Atlanta, GA

What is your favorite part of travel nursing?

The flexibility of not being a staff nurse. Living in a city you might not otherwise live in for a short period of time. Meeting new people that you wouldn’t otherwise meet, taking care of patients you wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to take care of. Especially in a specialty like mother/baby, you’re taking care of women in their most vulnerable time and it’s a really unique experience.

What is a place on your bucket list for a travel nursing job?

Colorado

Tell us about your career history – how did you become a travel nurse?

After 3 1/2 years as a staff nurse, I felt like it was finally time to take a leap of faith and try it out. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but was never confident enough to do it. Now I’m so glad I did.

Have you found any sort of community while travel nursing?

Not yet

What are some of your favorite hobbies and activities outside of work?

Barre, Pilates, hiking with my husband and our dog, reading, cooking or baking

What do you always pack?

stethoscope!

Any advice for future travelers?

Don’t be afraid! The staff nurses are always welcoming because you’re there to help them out. It can be scary at first but the main thing to remember is that you already know how to do your job, you’re just doing it in a new facility.

What are your go-to ways to relieve stress?

Working out
