Licensing Guide For Travel Nurses In Michigan

Steps/Process

  1. Submit an application for Licensure by Endorsement online
  2. Pay the associated fees
  3. Fingerprint report and criminal background check
    1. Fingerprints must be taken using the instructions and ID numbers that are sent to you after the license application and fee are received.
    2. You can get fingerprinted either in-state or out-of-state, it does not matter.
  4. Verification of license
    1. The Michigan Board of Nursing will verify your nursing licenses through their own process. You do not need to submit any verification yourself.

  2. Verification of Current License 
  3. Verification of all licensures

Timing/Schedule

  1. Temporary License Time-Frame: 4-6 weeks – Only applies to individuals licensed as a registered nurse in Canada
  2. Permanent License Time-Frame: 4-6 weeks

Renewal

Renewal every 2 years

  1. For your first year, you will renew your license within a year and you do not need any continuing education.

25 hours of required continuing education, with at least two (2) hours in pain and symptom management, in courses or programs approved by the Board.
